Spherion improves employee collaboration with IBM Options

When Spherion learned that it was taking two weeks or more for its IT staffing and outsourcing division, the Technology Services Group, to respond to new sales opportunities, alarm bells sounded throughout the company. “That was a big wake up call,” says Doug Cormany, senior vice president and chief information officer at Spherion. “Success at our company is measured by the ability of employees to respond rapidly to customers with the best information possible. But our unconnected business processes were forcing staff to perform time-consuming manual searches for basic documents, such as company presentations and sales templates. These inefficiencies were driving down productivity and preventing us from competing effectively in the marketplace.”

Spherion needed to find a way to connect employees with information and resources quickly and easily in order to capture new business opportunities. This would require a resilient infrastructure and technology components capable of not only integrating information across a variety of business units, but also presenting content in a consistent and timely manner. “Our goal was to be more responsive by delivering uniquely relevant information and contacts to employees when and where they needed it,” says Tina Eyerly, director of knowledge management at Spherion.
